Dream home

Write about your dream home.

To be honest, my home is probably 75% there. I live in a Victorian with a mid-century addition. I adore the high ceilings and sturdy baseboards and door frames. It has hardwood floors in some rooms but laminate in others. In my dream home, they would all be hardwood. The windows are thin and tall, just how I like them. I think the biggest changes would be in the bathroom and kitchen. My dream bathroom is an actual room, not a little closet. Enough room for a clawfoot tub, a shower room, a toilet room and a window looking onto a beautiful secret garden. Kitchen would be all tile with updated appliances and wooden cabinets.

And I’d move the whole house to a quiet village in the North of England, with hills and trees all around, and a sweet little cottage garden.

Reading ebooks with ReadEra

Hi friends, If you have been madly downloading all those free ebooks (including the Archimedean Heart 😉) from Smashwords during their Read eBooks event like I have, you should try this book reading app I am using. It opens all the formats and the controls are easy, unlike others. It has no ads and it’s free! We love free, right?

Who would I be?

If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be, and why?

See just one day isn’t much time so that really opens up possibilities. I like being me but it would be fun to step into someone else’s shoes just for a day. I think maybe someone glamorous and famous, just for that experience. I choose Angelina Jolie. She’s definitely glamorous and seems to have a fascinating life.

Who would YOU choose?

Playlist for the Vitruvian Mask

I always have a playlist when I write my books. It gets me into the mood of the book so each playlist is different. For The Vitruvian Mask, the music was very focused. Basically I listened to Unwoman’s album Casualties and part of Bowie’s Low on repeat. That was a lot of repeat. I thought it would be fun to share the playlist with you all. Enjoy!

Also, you can see Unwoman live in April at Clockwork Alchemy! https://www.clockworkalchemy.com

Haha, I forgot, I am going to be there too! Unwoman is AWESOME in concert.
And if you want to pick up some of her music, check it out at Bandcamp. I love supporting indie artists. 🙂

Look what I found on my door step!

I just got home from my first plane trip in close to five years. It was a bit nervewracking tbh. I was happy to be home and even happier to see this.

Me with my new book!

Yep, it’s the very first print copy of The Vitruvian Mask. I was really tired so my happy dance was more of a happy wiggle. It looks really good in person, with no issues. It’s a book! With words! MY words. Oh my.

Reblog: 5 Ways to Stretch Your Word Count

This blog post on increasing your word count is really up my alley. I am such an under writer. Or maybe just concise. Heh heh.

These 5 tips will actually improve a book, I think. It’s not about padding it with unnecessary words. I think the one that works well for me is adding a sideplot or two.

This time last year, I thought my newest New Adult speculative fiction work-in-progress about the collective subconscious and evil corporations was finished and ready for the world. Since then, I have gotten sidetracked by the release of my first novel entitled The Black Oracle and by the launching of my full-time writing career. During all this time, I […]
